Manuwera High School approached us with a brief to design outdoor classrooms and canopy structure to provide covered learning/relaxing areas for students, situated in close proximity to existing classroom blocks. 
Series of canopies with clear roofs are built around existing trees, with seating and planter boxes arranged around them to create an informal and joyful learning environment. Each roof planes have different pitches to match the tree locations, providing differing expressions of light depending on where you sit. 
We enjoyed collaborating with the students and teachers in designing the patterns of the timber screens to help represent the school's cultures and values.
