MAKE was commissioned by the Auckland Council for this challenging project to retrofit the Auckland Art Gallery Café. 
The brief was to give the café a sense of identity and provide excellent acoustics/lighting design. Taking on board the surrounding context of Albert Park and the sculptural tree canopies, we conceptualised using timber veneer acoustic panels to create experiences of texture, depth and shadows on the walls. 
The design immerses the café as part of the forest, bringing the trees into the café as a cohesive space.
